Welcome to the
St Vincent de Paul Society of St Andrew’s at Marayong.
Our conference
has 8 active members and 2 auxiliary members. Our meetings are held
on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, commencing at 7.00pm.
We always welcome visitors and new members to our meetings.
Our members
staff the St Vincent de Paul shop on Railway Road at Marayong on
a voluntary basis, as well as attending to the needs of the underprivileged
in our parish. Our house calls usually consist of us giving out
food parcels rather than food vouchers. While this might be a little
more work for our members, it assists the genuinely needy in a more
practical way.
We are blessed
with the assistance we receive from our parish community, from the
support of Fr Ron and the parish staff to the generosity of the
many parishioners who continually give donate money to our poor
boxes or place food in our baskets at the main door of the church
every week. This generosity allows us to depend less on the regional
council for assistance.
The Society
has a Winter Appeal and a Christmas Appeal every year and we appreciate
the extra effort and support we receive at these times to enable
us to cater to the greater demands that are placed on our members.
If you would
like to find out more or if you would like to help us, please contact
the Parish Office.
