Health and Fitness and Walking Group

The program was originally developed to provide a service (education about nutrition & exercise) to the parish community as well as to encourage parishioners to get together outside of Mass. Each session is run by fitness professionals.

We meet at the Fr Byrne Centre every Monday at 7pm. The ‘outside’ walkers head off in groups of 2-3 at various paces over a set course. Meanwhile, a group of people do gentle exercise to music with Donna. The group then comes together and does exercise to music according to the individual’s ability and fitness level.

The St Andrew’s Parish Walking Group in a nutshell…

WHEN? Mondays at 7pm (rain, hail or shine!)
WHERE? Fr Byrne Centre
WHAT? …to bring and wear: comfortable walking shoes, water bottle, a keen spirit, an open mind and a smiling face!
HOW? 7 – 7.30pm: walk (at your own pace)
7.30 – 8pm: gentle exercise (a combination of strength & stretching exercises)

So come along if you…

  • want to meet other fellow parishioners outside of Mass
  • just want to have a go at physical activity in a non-threatening environment
  • need motivation to be active
